A contract (also known as a recording contract) is a legal agreement between labels and artists (or artist group) where the artist creates a musical recording (or set of records) of the label to sell and promote. Artists under contract generally may not be registered label and can invite others as guest artists on their CD, in an opinion of the "courtesy of (name of the label) and label can be used with a percentage of sales. Tags usually the owner of copyright in the document its artists, as well as copies of the documents. One exception is that if you have a label for distribution to an artist, in this case, the artist, their manager or other owner of copyright in May (and teachers), while the file is on the label to a period of time. Advocacy is a key factor for a successful album, and has become an important part of the responsibility on the label, and distribution documents.

(The string of successes in the mid-1970s, was finally able to erase the debt.) "Walk out" a very difficult situation, well, since it is for try a new one, without the realization of an old documents released by Donna Summer and the members of Boston (call themselves "The hunter Orion") withdrew from the distribution of your old seal is a way.

Registration of businesses in general, increasing taxes, or artistic freedom of the shares of the signing of new contracts with them, and are usually the best treatment for an artist. Sometimes, however, acts that go where the opportunity to see better. Diana Ross, for example, in 1980, his album "Diana", which has fulfilled his contract with Motown Records. The album contains three Billboard Pop Hits, a # 1 and two dozen high. Ross, however, felt that it was never fully Motown working alone or working with The Supremes, one of the most important story. When RCA U.S. Documents offered $ 20 million for a contract with them to Motown Rossendorf has a chance, with the face, or at least something positive.
